FC Schalke 04 pursues CEO contract extension and reviews transfer goals
FC Schalke 04 is undergoing organizational and strategic shifts. CEO Matthias Tillmann is in discussions regarding a contract extension beyond his current term ending in summer 2027. Tillmann has expressed a desire to continue his work in Gelsenkirchen, citing the establishment of a new sporting structure involving Sporting Director Frank Baumann and squad planner Maximilian Lüftl, as well as improved organizational harmony and increased sponsorship revenue.
On the sporting front, Frank Baumann reported that the club did not meet all its transfer objectives during the recent window. The club's primary goal was to sell players from the licensed squad to meet equity requirements, but several intended departures did not materialize. Specifically, striker Moussa Sylla remained at the club after suitable offers failed to arrive. Despite this, Baumann noted that the club is no longer under the same extreme pressure to sell players below their market value as in previous years. The club has since made last-minute additions, such as striker Hee-Chan Hwang.
