FC Schalke 04 to open Schalke-Terrassen by 2026

FC Schalke 04 is proceeding with the construction of the ‘Schalke-Terrassen’ despite ongoing financial difficulties. The project, which includes a sports bar, a 200-square-meter rooftop terrace, a 300-square-meter outdoor area, and a small fan shop, is scheduled to open by October 2026 at the latest.

The club intends to operate the catering itself, potentially creating competition for the existing ‘Charlys Schalker’ restaurant located in the same building.

Financially, Schalke is under pressure to achieve a balanced budget by 2026 to comply with DFL equity regulations. The club currently reports negative equity of 96.6 million euros. Failure to meet these requirements could result in a three-point deduction for the 2027/2028 season.
