FC St. Pauli appoints Marcel Rapp as head coach after parting with Alexander Blessin

Following its relegation from the Bundesliga, FC St. Pauli confirmed the termination of Alexander Blessin's contract, which had run until summer 2027. The club’s sport director Andreas Bornemann said, “Alex' qualities as a trainer are undisputed; we are convinced that a separation and a fresh start this summer is the right path.”

Marcel Rapp, 47, was named the new head coach. Rapp previously led Holstein Kiel, guiding the team to the Bundesliga in 2024 and remaining after a subsequent relegation before leaving in February 2026. He expressed enthusiasm for the role, stating, “I have great excitement to start preparing for the new season.
