FC St. Pauli set for squad overhaul as defender Karol Mets and goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj exit
Defender Karol Mets and goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj will leave FC St. Pauli at the end of the season. Mets, a 33‑year‑old Estonian who made 91 appearances and scored once for the club, announced his departure on Instagram, saying he will miss the team. Vasilj, a 30‑year‑old Bosnian who played 167 matches, also confirmed his exit after helping the club achieve promotion in 2024 and then experience relegation from the Bundesliga.
The departures come as St. Pauli prepares for a major roster rebuild following its drop to the second tier, with both players set to become free agents when their contracts expire in the summer.
