FC St. Pauli signs Finnish defender Rony Jansson

FC St. Pauli announced the signing of 22‑year‑old Finnish right‑back Rony Jansson from Swedish top‑flight club Kalmar FF. The transfer fee was not disclosed, but the player is valued at around €500,000 and had a contract with Kalmar for one more year. Jansson has made 69 appearances in Sweden’s first and second divisions, scoring three goals and providing two assists this season, and he earned his senior debut for Finland in June.

Sport director Andreas Bornemann described Jansson as a dynamic player with strong transition play, while head coach Marcel Rapp highlighted his pace, physical attributes and crossing quality. A medical examination was scheduled for Friday, after which the move is expected to be finalized. Jansson replaces Manolis Saliakas, who recently returned to Olympiakos after St. Pauli’s relegation from the Bundesliga.
