FC Twente loses 0-1 to Qarabağ FK in Conference League play-off

FC Twente suffered a 0-1 home defeat against Azerbaijani side Qarabağ FK in the first leg of their Conference League play-off. The decisive goal was scored by Kady Borges following a defensive error by Bart van Rooij.

Following the match, FC Twente manager John van den Brom expressed dissatisfaction with his team's performance, stating that too many players played below their expected level. Despite the loss, Van den Brom confirmed that Wout Weghorst remains the club's primary striker, although the forward has struggled with form and confidence, failing to score in his first seven official matches for the club.

Qarabağ FK, led by long-time manager Qurban Qurbanov, displayed significant discipline and organization. The Azerbaijani side now holds a narrow advantage heading into the return leg in Baku next week.
