FCC appoints Hunter Deeley as Enforcement Bureau Chief

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has appointed Hunter Deeley as the new Chief of its Enforcement Bureau, effective immediately. Deeley succeeds Patrick Webre, who is transitioning to a senior role within the FCC’s Office of Managing Director.

Deeley previously served as the Enforcement Bureau’s Chief of Staff and Deputy Bureau Chief. In those capacities, he oversaw enforcement matters related to national security risks and coordinated with the U.S. Intelligence Community and law enforcement agencies. Before joining the FCC, Deeley held positions at the U.S. Department of Justice within the National Security Division’s Foreign Investment Review Section, where he managed matters involving the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and Team Telecom.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr stated that he is confident Deeley’s leadership will continue the bureau’s work in areas such as robocall enforcement, fraud investigation, and national security administration.
