FCC Chairman Brendan Carr slams legacy journalists after Scott Pelley firing remarks

On June 7 2026, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr posted on X that “one of the reasons why trust in media is so low is because many legacy journalists are completely out of touch.”

The comment was a reaction to a tweet from Fox News contributor Byron York, which quoted CBS veteran Scott Pelley’s interview with The New York Times. In that interview, Pelley said he had not expected to be fired and referenced calls for Bari Weiss’s removal.

Carr used his platform to argue that journalists’ disconnect with audiences harms public confidence in the media.
