FCC Chairman Brendan Carr Under Fire as Agency Announces Satellite Licensing Overhaul
Activists organized a “Corruption Walk” in Washington, D.C., to protest FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s alleged abuse of power and censorship of media. The walk featured 11 signs accusing Carr of violating First Amendment protections and called on the public to contact Congress for his impeachment.
At the same time, the FCC announced that Space Bureau deputy chief Jennifer Gilsenan will serve as acting head of the bureau while current chief Jay Schwarz prepares to retire. Chairman Carr used the announcement to highlight a sweeping satellite‑licensing reform that has cut the agency’s backlog by more than 50% and aims to speed up approvals for complex satellite constellations.
