FCC Moves to Revoke Odyssey Robot Drone Authorization Over DJI Allegations

The Federal Communications Commission announced a national‑security enforcement action against Odyssey Robot, a U.S. drone vendor, seeking to revoke its equipment authorization. A Spain‑based security researcher, Konrad Iturbe, reported that Odyssey’s drone matches the specifications of a product tied to Chinese manufacturer DJI, which is prohibited under the FCC’s foreign‑made drone ban.

Odyssey claimed the drone’s remote control was made in California and assembled in Texas, but FCC documents show a test report indicating the device was tested in Shenzhen, China, and its radio‑frequency fingerprint is identical to the VooMax Breeze drone sold on Amazon. The company failed to respond to FCC inquiries, and a third‑party assembler, eTak Worldwide, denied any relationship. The FCC has given Odyssey ten days to reply before proceeding with revocation.
