SC Magdeburg defeats Füchse Berlin in Bundesliga top match

SC Magdeburg secured a 36:32 victory against Füchse Berlin in a high-stakes Handball-Bundesliga matchup at the Getec Arena. This win marks Magdeburg's second victory over Berlin in less than two weeks, following their Supercup win.

Despite Berlin leading 14:13 at halftime, Magdeburg dominated the second half, outscoring the visitors 23:18. Key performers included Magnus Saugstrup and Albin Lagergren for Magdeburg, who both scored seven goals, while Mathias Gidsel led Berlin with seven goals and six assists.

The match was characterized by intense physical play, resulting in two red cards—one for Berlin's Frederik Simak and one for Magdeburg's Gisli Kristjánsson. Magdeburg's coach, Bennet Wiegert, described the match as a hard-fought battle where both teams competed without reservation, though he noted the game lacked aesthetic fluidity due to the intense competition.
