Laurențiu Reghecampf faces contract dispute with Esperance Tunis amid FCSB return

Laurențiu Reghecampf is set to return to FCSB as head coach, but his departure from the Tunisian club Esperance Tunis has triggered a significant legal and financial dispute. While Reghecampf has expressed a desire to settle his exit by paying a $150,000 clause, Esperance president Hamdi Meddeb is reportedly demanding the full value of his contract, which runs until 2028, potentially totaling $1.2 million.

Reghecampf has accused the Tunisian club of a lack of respect, citing unpaid wages for his staff and issues with residency permits. In response, Esperance has initiated legal proceedings via a bailiff to document his absence from team training camps. The dispute may ultimately be escalated to FIFA.

In Romania, FCSB owner Gigi Becali has committed to resolving outstanding debts related to Reghecampf’s previous tenure at Universitatea Craiova. This includes a $150,000 settlement, though Becali noted complications regarding additional interest requested by the Craiova club. Reghecampf is expected to be officially presented at FCSB following the resolution of these contractual hurdles.
