FCT Police Commissioner pledges support for school safety in Abuja

Ahmed Sanusi, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commissioner of Police, has pledged the FCT Police Command’s full commitment to protecting students, teachers, and educational facilities. Speaking at the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) National Safe School unveiling and the inauguration of a school security data capturing exercise in Abuja, Sanusi emphasized the need for concrete measures to protect schools from internal and external threats.

Sanusi stated that the police aim to establish response mechanisms capable of addressing emergencies within five minutes. He highlighted that effective security requires collaboration between the police and local communities, noting that community participation will complement existing efforts. To support the initiative, the Commissioner donated N1 million to the PCRC.

Dr. Rufus Ebegba, Chairman of the PCRC FCT Chapter, noted that the National Safe School Initiative is designed to strengthen the security and welfare of educational environments while addressing issues such as crime, substance abuse, and cultism. He urged members to provide useful information and monitor their communities to bolster security networks.
