The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved daraxonrasib, an oral RAS-targeting therapy, for adults with metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma who have previously received systemic treatment. Developed by Revolution Medicines, the drug was granted Breakthrough Therapy status following positive results from the phase 3 RASolute 302 study.

In clinical trials involving 500 patients, daraxonrasib nearly doubled median overall survival, extending it to 13.2 months compared to 6.7 months for those receiving standard chemotherapy. The treatment reduced the risk of death by 60%. The drug works by inhibiting the RAS protein, a molecular switch that drives growth in more than 90% of pancreatic cancer cases.

Additionally, research from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center suggests the drug may show efficacy in advanced lung cancer patients, with one study observing a 89% disease control rate in a specific group of patients resistant to chemotherapy.
