FDA expands berry recall and issues cetirizine alert

The FDA has expanded a recall of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend frozen fruit sold at Walmart stores across 16 U.S. states, including Alabama, Florida, Texas, and Ohio. The recall follows an investigation into producer Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S. A., which has been linked to 12 illnesses. While this specific berry blend has not yet received a Class I classification, a previous recall of the same producer's organic blueberries was categorized as Class I due to the risk of serious health consequences or death.

Separately, Unique Pharmaceutical Laboratories has issued a voluntary recall of four lots of Cetirizine Hydrochloride Tablets USP 5 mg distributed by Rising Pharma Holdings in the United States. The recall was prompted by the discovery of red spots and discoloration on some tablets, suggesting potential cross-contamination with ranitidine. The FDA warns that accidental exposure could be dangerous for individuals with hypersensitivity to ranitidine. There is currently no evidence that these specific medication lots were distributed in Romania.
