Fédération Nationale des Chasseurs to sue deputy Sandrine Rousseau

The Fédération Nationale des Chasseurs (FNC) has announced legal and administrative actions against French deputy Sandrine Rousseau following controversial remarks made during the REV movement's summer university. Rousseau reportedly called on supporters to go to forests and countryside areas at the start of the hunting season to ‘prevent’ hunting and to stand ‘physically’ in front of hunters.

The FNC stated that these comments cross a ‘red line’ and pose a risk to public safety by encouraging physical confrontation. In response, the FNC plans to file a formal complaint against Rousseau. Additionally, a deputy has already filed a report with the public prosecutor in Tours under Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The Federation also intends to write to the Prime Minister, the Minister of the Interior, and the Minister of Justice to alert them to the radicalization of discourse targeting hunters. Furthermore, the FNC will contact the President of the National Assembly to request sanctions against the deputy, demanding that hunters receive the same protection and respect as all other citizens.
