FDTA to march in Arequipa against labor legislative powers
The Departmental Federation of Workers of Arequipa (FDTA) has announced a mobilization scheduled for October 1. The protest aims to oppose granting the national Executive legislative powers regarding labor matters.
General Secretary Mariano Nina stated that affiliated unions will march through the streets of Arequipa's Cercado starting at 9:00 AM. The FDTA has already communicated its opposition to the Legislative Power through the General Confederation of Peruvian Workers (CGTP), arguing that labor regulations should not be modified via such mechanisms.
In addition to labor concerns, union leaders are addressing regional issues in health and transportation. A meeting is set for September 24 with the regional health manager to discuss shortages in medicines, medical equipment, and difficulties accessing appointments. Regarding urban transport, the FDTA has requested that the previously announced one-sol fare be upheld.
