Feast of Fields celebrates local agriculture in Central Saanich

The 25th annual Feast of Fields took place on August 30 at Heritage Acres in Central Saanich. Organized by the Victoria-based non-profit FarmFolk CityFolk, the sold-out event drew 650 attendees.

The four-hour gourmet festival featured more than 40 participants, including farmers, chefs, food artisans, brewers, and distillers. The event focused on local agriculture, seasonal ingredients, and strengthening the connections between producers and chefs.

Engagement manager Julia Zado noted that the festival serves as a fundraiser and aims to increase demand for locally produced food to help the region become more self-sufficient, noting that Vancouver Island's self-sufficiency has decreased significantly over the last 75 years.
