Febrie Adriansyah corruption trial proceeds after judge rejects interlocutory objection

The Jakarta Central District Corruption Court has ordered the continuation of the trial for former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, following the rejection of his legal team's interlocutory objection (eksepsi). Presiding Judge Akhmad Fijiarsyah Joko Sutrisno ruled that the indictment sufficiently detailed the alleged criminal acts, including the time, location, and specific charges, and that the merits of the defense must be tested through the evidentiary stage of the main case.

Febrie Adriansyah is accused of extortion and money laundering related to the handling of PT ASABRI and PT Asuransi Jiwasraya cases in 2020. The prosecution alleges he sought approximately 5 million Singapore dollars (around Rp55 billion) from businessman Tan Kian through intermediary Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang. Additionally, Febrie faces money laundering charges involving assets exceeding Rp350 billion, including gold, property, and foreign currency.

Co-defendants Don Ritto (alias Idon) and Nurman Herin are also involved in the proceedings. For their case, the court ruled that their legal objections would be decided alongside the final verdict, while ordering the prosecution to proceed to the evidentiary stage. The defense for Febrie has expressed concerns regarding the legal construction of the indictment and has formally objected to the witness protection granted to Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang by the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).
