Fecoljuegos prepares tax proposal for Colombian gambling sector
The Colombian Federation of Luck and Games Entrepreneurs (Fecoljuegos) is developing a technical tax proposal following the government's introduction of a tax reform bill to the Colombian Congress. The industry group seeks to ensure that new fiscal burdens account for the distinct economic and operational realities of both online and physical gambling segments.
Evert Montero, president of Fecoljuegos, stated that the association aims for a fair, sustained, and proportional taxation model. The group intends to present its alternative to the Ministry of Finance and Congress to prevent new measures from compromising legal operations, employment, investment, or resources allocated to healthcare.
The industry's response follows the government's presentation of a 106-article reform bill designed to address public finance deficits. Fecoljuegos has expressed concern regarding the Economic Rescue Law project and plans to seek dialogue with economic commissions to discuss the impact of successive tax changes on the sector's sustainability.
