FecomercioSP reports rising turnover in São Paulo wholesale trade
The wholesale trade sector in São Paulo is facing rising costs due to high employee turnover rates, according to a recent study by the Federation of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP). The turnover rate has increased to 47.3%, up from 45% recorded three years ago.
FecomercioSP attributes this trend to a tight labor market with low unemployment, where more vacancies exist than qualified candidates. This environment encourages workers to move frequently between companies in search of better salaries, benefits, and roles that better match their qualifications.
Ronaldo Jamar Taboada, president of the Wholesale Trade Council of FecomercioSP, noted that constant staff changes increase expenses related to recruitment, selection, medical exams, and training. Additionally, the sector faces productivity losses during the period it takes for new hires to gain necessary expertise regarding product mixes, suppliers, and client portfolios.
