FEDA and CTC provide drone technology training for Montecristi farmers
The Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA), in coordination with the Community Technological Centers (CTC), held a training session titled ‘Technology in the Field’ in Montecristi, Dominican Republic. The event focused on the application of drone technology in agriculture, specifically targeting rice producers and other local farmers in the Los Sanos, Castañuela area.
Experts from the company FARMDRONS conducted demonstrations on how drones can be used for crop management and fumigation. The training highlighted how these tools allow for real-time crop monitoring, more precise fertilization, and the optimization of resources. Key benefits discussed included savings in water, fuel, time, and agricultural inputs, as well as the ability to identify specific areas within plots that require attention.
This initiative is part of a broader government effort to modernize Dominican agriculture through precision tools and technological innovation to increase productivity and reduce costs.
