Fedecámaras calls for revision of social benefit calculations
During the 82nd Annual Assembly of Fedecámaras, President Felipe Capozzolo called for a restructuring of the method used to calculate social benefits. He argued that this revision is essential to ensure business sustainability while allowing for a gradual increase in worker income.
Capozzolo distinguished between increasing total income through bonuses and adjusting base salaries. He noted that direct salary increases create labor liabilities that private companies cannot currently absorb under existing economic conditions. He urged for a consensus within the discussions regarding the Organic Labor Law to find a balance between the Executive branch, private companies, and workers.
Regarding the feasibility of wage improvements, Capozzolo stated that the private sector must first overcome operational hurdles and high production costs to become more competitive. He suggested that once companies can grow and reduce costs, they will be better positioned to pay higher wages.
