Federal Character Commission partners with FCT FA for youth sports development

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) is partnering with the FCT Football Association (FCT FA) to advance youth development, social inclusion, and talent discovery through sports in Nigeria.

During a meeting in Abuja, FCC Executive Chairman Hulayat Omidiran emphasized the need for intentional grassroots sports development. She urged the FCT Sports Department to prioritize the rehabilitation and establishment of functional sports facilities to provide conducive training environments. Omidiran noted that talent identification should extend beyond football to include various sporting disciplines.

Omidiran highlighted the economic potential of the sports sector, stating it should be viewed as an industry capable of generating wealth and employment. She also suggested initiatives such as training teachers to serve as coaches in schools to support the development of young athletes.
