Federal Character Commission urges Enugu youths to pursue federal jobs

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has urged youths in Enugu State to actively pursue federal employment opportunities, warning against the misconception that government jobs are pre-allocated to politically connected individuals. During the ‘Peter Eze Enugu Youth Connect 2026’ workshop held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu, officials addressed the ‘generational fallacies’ and misinformation that discourage qualified candidates from applying.

FCC Commissioner Peter Eze emphasized that applicants must apply to be considered, stating, ‘No player has ever won a football match outside the pitch.’ He cautioned youths against middlemen who demand money for purported employment and clarified that the FCC’s constitutional role is to ensure equitable representation across more than 700 federal ministries, departments, and agencies.

Enugu Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai, represented by Secretary to the State Government Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, also challenged the youth to build capacity. Onyia stressed that while the government aims to create an enabling environment, individuals must develop relevant skills, build competitive CVs, and possess the readiness to utilize available opportunities.
