Federal charges filed in Manhattan attorney kidnapping and robbery
Federal prosecutors have charged three men in connection with the abduction and violent robbery of an attorney in New York City. The victim, who was in Manhattan for work, was allegedly lured into a vehicle outside Rick’s Cabaret on West 33rd Street around 4:00 a.m. on June 12.
According to court documents, Dani Amanuel, Kibret Meles, and Kenny Fetire allegedly promised to drive the intoxicated victim to his hotel. Instead, the group drove through the Lincoln Tunnel into New Jersey, where they beat and stabbed the man with what was believed to be a machete. The attackers reportedly stole his Rolex watch and iPhone after demanding his passcode.
The victim was discovered at approximately 5:30 a.m. by a cyclist near a nature preserve in West Orange, New Jersey, left bloodied and battered. A fourth individual is reportedly cooperating with federal authorities.
