Federal Civil Service Commission reports 98% success in 2026 exams

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has reported a success rate of over 98 percent in the 2026 promotion examinations for directorate-level federal civil servants. Prof. Tunji Olaopa, Chairman of the commission, announced the results following inspections of eight examination centres in the Federal Capital Territory.

Out of 5,900 expected candidates, 5,792 have participated in the exercise thus far. To improve accessibility, the commission decentralised the exams across seven locations, including Abuja and the six geopolitical zones, covering areas such as Lafia, Gombe, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Enugu, and Ibadan. This marks a shift from the 2025 examinations, which were held exclusively in Abuja.

Prof. Olaopa noted that the transition to computer-based testing has allowed for more seamless administration compared to previous manual systems. However, he identified challenges regarding internet connectivity, logistics, and candidate computer literacy. To mitigate connectivity issues, the commission utilized an alternative identity-code system to prevent significant delays.
