Federal College of Education Yola holds 16th convocation

The Federal College of Education (FCE), Yola, held its 16th combined convocation ceremony for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic sessions. During the event, 3,555 graduands were awarded the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

Stakeholders at the ceremony called upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to upgrade the 52-year-old institution to a full-fledged University of Education. They noted that the college currently runs degree programmes through university affiliations and argued that an upgrade is necessary to meet the increasing demand for teacher education in North-east Nigeria.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Minister of Education Dr. Tunji Alausa, and the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha. Saheed O. Johnson, Chairman of the Governing Council, highlighted the institution's ability to maintain academic consistency and infrastructure development despite challenges facing teacher-training institutions in the country.
