Federal drug conspiracy cases result in guilty pleas and sentencing
In separate federal cases, individuals involved in significant narcotics trafficking operations have faced legal consequences.
In Rochester, New York, Reinaldo Suarez, 54, was sentenced to 121 months in prison by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. Suarez pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine, as well as being a felon in possession of a firearm. Investigators seized substantial quantities of narcotics and a loaded shotgun during raids on his residence and an automobile bay used for trafficking activities.
In Camden, New Jersey, Carlos H. Cordero-Gutierrez, 54, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. The charge is linked to a record-breaking seizure of more than 260 pounds of methamphetamine in New Jersey, the largest in the state's history. Cordero-Gutierrez admitted to transporting the shipment from Texas to New Jersey in a tractor-trailer. He is the second defendant to plead guilty in this case, following co-defendant Marcos Cesar Acosta.
