Federal Highway Police seize R$ 870,000 in cash on BR-381

The Federal Highway Police (PRF) seized R$ 870,570 in cash during a inspection on the BR-381 highway near Perdões, in southern Minas Gerais. The interception occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at kilometer 679 following an alert from the Command and Control Center regarding a suspicious vehicle with Belo Horizonte license plates.

Upon inspection, officers found a suitcase in the trunk containing the funds. The driver claimed the money was related to “politics” and stated he was being paid to transport the amount from Ponta Porã, Mato Grosso do Sul, to a shopping center in Belo Horizonte. The driver refused to identify the individuals involved, citing fear of retaliation. The case has been referred to the Civil Police in Varginha for investigation, and the seized amount remains at the disposal of the justice system.
