Federal Judge Dismisses Dawn Richard’s Abuse Lawsuit Against Sean “Diddy” Combs

A U.S. District Court in New York dismissed singer Dawn Richard’s civil lawsuit alleging physical and sexual abuse by music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Judge Arun Subramanian ruled the claims were filed after the New York Adult Survivors Act deadline, which closed in November 2023, making the case time‑barred. In a related ruling, Judge Katherine Polk Failla noted that while most claims cannot be refiled, one allegation may be pursued in state court under the Gender‑Motivated Violence Act.

Richard’s lawsuit detailed accusations of a hostile work environment, including physical violence, sexual misconduct, and exploitation during her eight‑year tenure with Bad Boy Records. Lawyers for Combs declined comment. The dismissal occurs as Combs faces separate federal criminal charges—including racketeering, sex‑trafficking and fraud—currently pending in Brooklyn.

Richard’s attorney said the team will refile the remaining viable claim in state court, continuing their pursuit of justice despite the civil case dismissal.
