Argentina Federal Logistics Summit addresses infrastructure and mining

The 2nd Federal Logistics Summit, organized by the Federal Investment Council (CFI) in Buenos Aires, brought together governors, national officials, and business leaders to address Argentina's infrastructure and competitiveness. Key discussions focused on modernizing transport networks, including roads, railways, ports, and waterways, to support strategic sectors such as agroindustry, energy, and mining.

San Juan Governor Marcelo Orrego highlighted the province's critical role in the global energy transition, noting that San Juan hosts six of the country's ten major copper projects. He warned that the projected increase in heavy transport—potentially one large truck every 46 seconds—requires urgent improvements to road and electrical connectivity.

Entre Ríos Governor Rogelio Frigerio emphasized the need to revitalize port activity and strengthen the navigable waterway network to boost provincial production. Meanwhile, Buenos Aires Governor Axel Kicillof called for a national logistics plan involving both public and private sectors to ensure Argentina remains competitive in global value chains.

National Chief of Staff Diego Santilli urged governors to reach political agreements to support structural economic reforms and the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI). He also noted the importance of improving strategic corridors like national routes 3, 5, and 7 to facilitate production transport to ports.
