São Paulo Police arrest three in illegal gambling operation

The São Paulo Civil Police conducted Operation Disque 151, arresting three individuals suspected of operating illegal digital gambling and task-based fraud platforms. The operation targeted two specific platforms: FortuneSlots, which functioned as a virtual casino, and ThinkTV, which promised payments for simple online tasks like watching videos.

Authorities estimate the illegal scheme has affected approximately 10 million people across Brazil. Investigations revealed over 38.5 million financial transactions, with the group moving roughly R$ 14 million in just six months. The judiciary has authorized asset freezes that could reach R$ 154 million.

The investigation, which lasted two years, utilized data from Procon-SP complaints and identified the use of 'pocket accounts' to hide and distribute betting funds. This crackdown follows a federal provisional measure issued in late September that prohibits the exploitation, offering, and advertising of online betting in Brazil.
