Federal Police investigate financial ties in ‘Dark Horse’ film production
The Brazilian Federal Police (PF) are investigating a complex financial network surrounding the production of the film ‘Dark Horse’, which focuses on Jair Bolsonaro. Investigators are examining connections between banker Daniel Vorcaro, production companies, public contracts, and parliamentary amendments.
Reports suggest Vorcaro was involved in negotiating the release of approximately R$ 134 million (US$ 24 million) related to the film. Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has been identified as a key figure in these negotiations, allegedly responsible for presenting the project to Vorcaro and seeking resources to meet financial commitments.
The investigation has also uncovered a R$ 157 million contract between the City of São Paulo and the Instituto Conhecer Brasil, headed by Karina Ferreira da Gama, the producer of ‘Dark Horse’. Authorities are looking into whether public funds were used to finance the film production.
Additionally, financial links have emerged between the producers of ‘Dark Horse’ and ‘A Colisão dos Destinos’, a documentary portraying Jair Bolsonaro favorably. The latter received R$ 84,000 from the National Academy of Culture (ANC) and R$ 22,000 via parliamentary quotas from Mario Frias. The PF is investigating whether these movements constitute a criminal organization aimed at irregularly directing funds to subcontracted companies.
