Brazil law enforcement conducts widespread operations against organized crime
Law enforcement agencies across Brazil have conducted a series of operations targeting organized crime, drug trafficking, and fraud.
In Bahia, Operation Linha Sombria led to the arrest of nine individuals in Feira de Santana, Itaberaba, and Barueri, targeting a criminal group linked to Rio de Janeiro factions that used a delivery-style system to supply drugs to middle and upper-class clients.
In Minas Gerais, authorities arrested a major drug trafficking leader in Governador Valadares and seized large quantities of narcotics. In Rio de Janeiro, Operation Polaridade targeted fraudulent firearm registrations for collectors and shooters (CACs), while another operation arrested civil police officers suspected of extorting recycling entrepreneurs.
Other notable actions include the seizure of 1,150 ampoules of weight-loss medication in Foz do Iguaçu, the arrest of a passenger with 5.5 kg of cocaine at Galeão Airport, and the dismantling of a scheme in the Federal District involving the fraudulent registration of drivers on transport apps. Additionally, police in various regions reported seizures of marijuana, ecstasy, and copper theft materials.
