Federal Police seize R$ 600,000 from daughter of Deputy Soraya Santos

The Brazilian Federal Police seized R$ 600,000 in cash from Priscila Santos, the daughter of Federal Deputy Soraya Santos (PL), during an operation targeting electoral crimes in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. In addition to the currency, which consisted of R$ 50 and R$ 100 notes, authorities confiscated documents and spreadsheets.

Legal representatives for Soraya Santos stated that the funds are legitimate and belong to a family-owned business. They clarified that the money had been reserved a week prior through official channels to pay suppliers and that the company's lawful activities are separate from any electoral campaign organization.

Federal Police investigations are ongoing to determine the exact origin and intended destination of the funds. Soraya Santos, a lawyer seeking her fourth consecutive term, has previously held prominent positions in the Chamber of Deputies, including first secretary.
