Federal Public Ministry takes legal action in Paraíba and Alagoas
The Federal Public Ministry (MPF) is conducting targeted interventions in Paraíba and Alagoas to address human rights and security concerns.
In Cabedelo, Paraíba, the MPF-PB has filed a lawsuit in Federal Court to ensure the safety of the Renascer traditional community. The action targets the Union, the state of Paraíba, the municipality of Cabedelo, ICMBio, and CBTU. The MPF alleges structural security failures, including criminal control that interferes with daily life, threats, and the expulsion of families from their homes. The ministry is requesting an emergency security plan, increased police presence, and improved public lighting within 30 days.
In Arapiraca, Alagoas, the MPF's Regional Prosecutor's Office for Citizen Rights monitored public policies for the homeless population. Activities included celebrating the 13th anniversary of the Centro Pop, inspecting Praça da Tenda, and observing the Consultório na Rua service at night. These actions aim to identify barriers to public services and prepare for the 2nd Pop Rua Jud task force scheduled for November 26.
