Brazil's June exports hit historic high, narrowing trade deficit

Brazil's exports reached a record US$ 36.4 billion in June 2026, the highest level ever reported by the Central Bank. The surge helped cut the current‑account deficit to US$ 2.3 billion, down from US$ 5.2 billion a year earlier, and pushed the trade surplus to US$ 8.8 billion.

In parallel, the financial market’s inflation outlook has eased for the fourth week in a row. The Boletim Focus released by Brazil’s central bank now projects the official IPCA inflation rate at 5.12 % for 2026, down from 5.15 % a week earlier and 5.33 % a month earlier. The same report keeps the Selic rate forecast at 14.00 % for the end of 2026 and expects the dollar to finish the year at R$ 5.20. Other macro indicators—GDP growth at 1.99 % in 2026, foreign‑direct investment inflows of US$ 9.1 billion in June, and international reserves of US$ 367.6 billion—remain stable.
