Federal University of Lafia reports progress against local kidnapping and cultism

The management of the Federal University of Lafia in Nasarawa State reports significant progress in combating kidnapping, cultism, and other criminal activities in the Mararaba and Akunza communities. These areas house thousands of the university’s students.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida attributed these gains to sustained collaboration with state security agencies, including the Police, DSS, Civil Defence, and the military. To bolster these efforts, the university has engaged approximately 200 volunteer hunters and vigilantes to assist with security and intelligence gathering.

Prof. Kida emphasized that protecting students and staff is a top priority. He also called upon the media to assist in the fight by exposing individuals involved in kidnapping and cultism, noting the devastating impact these crimes have on families and the institution.
