Federal University Oye-Ekiti denies arrest of Vice-Chancellor
The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has issued a statement denying reports that its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, was arrested or detained by police in Abuja. The university described the claims as “entirely false, baseless, and deliberately fabricated.”
Prof. Ogunwole recently served as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the Osun State governorship election, during which he declared incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke the winner. The university clarified that Ogunwole traveled to the Federal Capital Territory on Monday to attend to critical administrative and institutional matters regarding the university, not due to any police investigation.
FUOYE management urged the public to disregard unverified social media claims and treat such reports with caution.
