Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina begins 2034 development strategy drafting

The government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has officially launched the drafting process for its 2034 Development Strategy. The initiative aims to establish a multisectoral framework to define social consensus and development priorities for the upcoming decade.

During a conference in Sarajevo, Prime Minister Nermin Niksic emphasized the need for the new strategy to avoid the pitfalls of previous plans, which he described as “wish lists” that lacked clear deadlines, accountability, and specific funding sources. He noted that while some goals like minimum wage increases and pension adjustments were achieved through commitment, other major projects, such as the Vc Corridor, have faced significant delays.

The FBiH Institute for Development Programming is coordinating the process to ensure transparency and legal compliance. Acting Director Rijad Kovac stated that the institute will work to build a social consensus over the next three to six months to determine which priorities should be financed through public funds.
