Croatia and Bosnia report rising tourism and demographic shifts

Croatia and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are reporting significant economic and demographic shifts. In Croatia, tourism revenue from foreign visitors reached a record 4.5 billion euros in the first half of 2026, a 5 percent increase compared to the previous year. Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina attributed these results to strategic promotional activities. Additionally, Croatia reported an encouraging demographic trend, with 1,055 more children born in the current period of 2026 than in the same period last year.

In the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, tourism saw growth in August 2026, with 195,026 arrivals, representing a 3 percent increase from August 2025 and a 6.7 percent increase from July 2026. Foreign tourists accounted for 79.2 percent of arrivals, with visitors from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Croatia being among the largest groups.

Other regional updates include Montenegro reporting budget revenues exceeding 2 billion euros for the first eight months of 2026, and updates to the Croatian health insurance list regarding new medications for diabetes and prostate cancer.
