Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sets July‑Oct 2026 Deadline for Verifying Old Foreign‑Currency Savings
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved an amendment to the regulation governing the verification of claims and cash payments based on old foreign‑currency savings accounts. The amendment, adopted in a telephone session on the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Finance, opens a filing period for citizens from 1 July to 31 October 2026. The responsible agency must complete the verification process no later than 31 December 2026.
The change aims to allow savers to confirm their entitlements through a regular administrative procedure, avoiding costly court actions and streamlining the settlement of outstanding claims. The amendment aligns sub‑regulatory provisions with the existing law, which already set the overall verification deadline at the end of 2026.
By providing a clear timeframe and simplifying the process, the government seeks to protect the rights of those with historic foreign‑currency deposits while reducing the administrative and judicial burden on both citizens and the state.
