Federation of Indian Associations hosts India Day celebrations in New York

The Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) hosted a large-scale celebration in New York to mark India’s 80th Independence Day and the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States. The festivities included the 44th Annual India Day Parade on Madison Avenue, which drew approximately 200,000 spectators.

The parade featured 55 floats, including a prominent display by the cast of the long-running sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ and a float from the Consulate General of India in New York. New York State Governor Kathy Hochul participated in the procession alongside various elected officials and Bollywood guests, including Pooja Hegde and Adivi Sesh.

To conclude the weekend, the FIA held the ‘Bharat Beyond Borders 2.0’ Gala at Cipriani Wall Street. The event brought together diplomats, community leaders, and celebrities for a program of cultural performances and official recognitions. Additionally, the Empire State Building was illuminated in the colors of the Indian tricolour to honor the occasion.
