Federazione Italiana Rugby launches Safeguarding Federal Academy
The Federazione Italiana Rugby (FIR) has officially launched the Accademia Federale Safeguarding, a national training and awareness program scheduled for the 2026/2027 sports season. The initiative aims to foster a sporting culture rooted in respect for individuals and the prevention of abuse, violence, discrimination, and mistreatment.
The program is designed to provide affiliated clubs with operational tools to build safe, inclusive, and educational sporting environments. To encourage comprehensive participation, the Academy invites involvement from all club members, including executives, coaches, players, and parents. Clubs that successfully complete the training across all relevant components will be awarded a Diploma of Participation in the Accademia Federale Safeguarding.
Federica Cavalieri, President of the FIR Safeguarding Office, stated that the goal is to make athlete protection and respect a part of the daily culture within every association, rather than just a set of rules or a task for a single individual. The training itinerary will consist of thematic webinars throughout the season.
