Federcaccia hunters participate in Scoglio Pulito cleanup on Isola del Giglio
Hunters from the Federcaccia Isola del Giglio section are participating in the “Scoglio Pulito” project to remove abandoned shell casings from the island's interior. While Italian law requires hunters to collect the casings from their own shots, these volunteers are also collecting hundreds of old casings left behind by others.
The cleanup efforts target various locations, including Scopeto, Radice, il Cavallo, Ulivello, Piano del Caciaio, i Leccioni, and il Cannone. Many of the recovered items consist of plastic bodies from casings where the metal components have already rusted away, contributing to environmental pollution.
Project organizers have provided the group with specialized kits, including bags and magnetic telescopic poles, to facilitate the collection and ensure the waste is sent for proper disposal. The activity is scheduled to continue until the end of the hunting season.
