Federchimica National Young Award winners announced

Students from various Italian schools have been recognized as winners of the Federchimica National Young Award for Basic Chemistry.

Students from the Battelli secondary school at the Montefeltro Comprehensive Institute in Pesaro won for their project, ‘Our 3D Periodic Table: a puzzle of life between chemistry and nature’. The project integrated science, technology, and digital skills to create a three-dimensional periodic table, involving collaboration with the Pesaro Environmental Education Center to explore agricultural chemistry and sustainability.

Additionally, students from the Plinio il Vecchio school in Cisterna won in the plastics category with their project, ‘Plastica 2.0: from waste to infinite resource’. Supported by PlasticsEurope Italia, the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), and Amaplast, the project focused on the chemical, technological, and environmental aspects of plastic, moving beyond viewing it simply as waste. The students produced an interactive digital newspaper to promote awareness of mechanical and chemical recycling.
