Federica Brignone uncertain about skiing future due to injury

Olympic alpine skier Federica Brignone has expressed uncertainty regarding her future in the sport, emphasizing that her physical health is her primary priority. Speaking at the Festival dello Sport in Trento, the two-time gold medalist from the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics shared that she is currently undergoing rehabilitation following surgery on August 25 to remove a metal plate from her left leg.

Brignone noted that her recent physical struggles have already disrupted her plans, including missing a trip to Argentina. While she is aiming to prepare for the upcoming season rather than just the World Championships in Crans Montana this February, she remains cautious. She stated, “O sto bene, o sto bene. Non voglio zoppicare e farmi male” (Either I am well, or I am well. I do not want to limp and hurt myself).

Reflecting on her career, Brignone described reaching the pinnacle of her professional life during the 2026 Olympics, only to see it challenged by physical and emotional difficulties. She mentioned that despite the “demons” and physical alarms her body sent, she pushed through to compete. Her current focus remains on physiotherapy and ensuring her leg is healthy enough to potentially return to racing.
