Federico Fucà joins Colombian national basketball staff

Federico Fucà, assistant coach for Pallacanestro Reggiana, has joined the technical staff of the Colombian national basketball team. This appointment comes ahead of the second phase of the FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifiers, which will be held in Qatar.

Fucà returns to national team duties after four years working with the Italian national team. Alongside him, Reggiana center Jaime Echenique has also been called up by head coach Tomas Diaz to represent Colombia. Fucà stated he aims to contribute to the team's tactical preparation, specifically regarding defensive strategies.

Colombia is placed in Group E for the American qualifying phase. Their opponents include Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Dominican Republic, and the United States. The top three teams from each group, plus the best fourth-placed team, will qualify for the World Cup. Colombia enters this phase with three victories, currently tied with Mexico in the standings.
