Ciudad Real officials demand more funding for local police

Miguel Ángel Valverde Menchero, president of the Diputación de Ciudad Real, has called for increased funding to support local police forces. Speaking during the 160th anniversary of the Local Police of Moral de Calatrava, Valverde emphasized that these forces have seen an evolution in their roles, increasingly taking on significant public safety responsibilities.

Valverde argued that current legislation needs to be updated to reflect the professionalization and the expanded duties these officers perform. He noted that local police are often the first responders to incidents before state security forces can arrive. He also highlighted the financial difficulties municipalities face in maintaining stable staff due to pay disparities between different localities.
